RAPE CARD

A cautionary tale set in a chilling dystopian future where rape is legal. Frances tries to control her fate by planning her own assault, and targets a young boy who just got his rape card.

Madeleine Sims-Fewer was born in Little Britain, Ontario, and moved as a child with her family to Bath, England. She studied acting at Drama Centre London, and is passionate about embodying contradictory characters that challenge our ideas of women. In 2015 she took part in TIFF Talent Lab, where she met her creative partner, Dusty Mancinelli. She starred in and co-directed their first short film, Slap Happy (17), which premiered at BFI London and played VIFF and Slamdance, among other festivals. Woman in Stall (18) won the Grand Jury Prize at Slamdance and a Jury Award at Austin. Her most recent short, Chubby (19), premiered at Telluride and won the Silver Dragon for Best director at Krakow. Violation (20) is Madeleine's first feature film. She is an alumni of Berlinale Talents and will remain a dedicated Meisner practitioner, always.

Nathan is a UK born Toronto based independent filmmaker focused on work that deals with anxiety, isolation and fraught relationships. His short film The Substitute won him a Kodak Student Scholarship and screened at over fifty film festivals worldwide (Montreal World, Dresden, Brno 16). His follow up short Rape Card was screened at Landshuter and Montreal World and was funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council and Shorts TV.

He is an alumni of Berlinale Talents and completed a masters degree in screenwriting at Central Saint Martins and in film production at York University. Most recently his two experimental films Where do Ideas Come from? and Why are you showing me this? were selected for Stuttgarter Filmwinter Festival for Expanded Media.
